Two prayers: Mother's Guild and Legacy Blessing

Mother's Guild Prayer
In the name of the Father….

Lord you make all things new, you are the Creator who is continually nurturing, renewing, and developing every aspect of our lives and your universe.

As we begin our new year, let us rest in your creative arms, to dwell in the hope of this renewal, to hope in the promises of your mercy.

Take all that we are, all we care for, all we love into your gentle arms. We ask you to enter into our lives to touch and heal, mend and restore, release and minister.

In you, there is always a new start. We give you thanks that today our lives are being remade anew in your grace.

With your gratitude, bless this Mother’s Guild: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Legacy Prayer
Loving and  Generous God,
Throughout the centuries, your Spirit sent us saints and heroes to pass on the faith to the next generations. The Apostles taught the early Jews; St. Paul handed the faith onto the Gentiles. St. Ignatius learned from St. Francis and St. Dominic, and we continue to learn from Pedro Arrupe and Pope Francis and our teachers in the Jesuit tradition. And our greatest teachers are parents, guardians, and grandparents.
This morning, we thank you for the saints and heroes in our homes who loved you and loved us, who cared enough to teach us about your love. Through bumps and misunderstandings, they stayed firm in their beliefs and stood by us. Thank you for the legacy of faith they passed on to us.
Please continue this love through us and help us to show that love to others. May we be faithful enough to trust you and to be a light of hope to the world.
We want our lives be a testimony to your faithfulness, goodness and love, even in the midst of trials. May we know the joy and peace that only you can give. May we not give up in praying for those we love.
Loving God, we ask you to bless those gathered here this morning, and those who are meaningful to us who cannot be here today. May almighty God bless us all: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Amen.
