You are the source of all goodness, and you look after all people with equal care, often having special concern for the poor, the marginalized, and the vulnerable. We find ourselves today is a state of disconnectedness and division. You are the God of unity, and you call all people to live together in harmony. Help us to connect and engage with one another so we can learn what each person needs. While we tend to move away from one another in times of disagreement, help us to see that we must approach one another, reach out our hands in friendship, speak compassionately so we may understand each other better. Help us to start a process of trusting one another’s goodwill once again. Help us to see we have more in common than differences. Help us to see that we need each other to build a strong and vibrant nation, one that respects freedom, permits the flourishing of the individual, seeks to rise to the highest level of humanity. Give us the grace to see and love each other as you see and love us.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
