Poem: "Abundance” by Joyce Rupp

What a surprising life, to have received

much more than I could have imagined,

good people coming to stay in my heart,

creation’s splendor readily displayed.

Success has been mine, amazingly so,

dreams and desires brought to birth.

Gifts unexpected, poured and re-poured,

filling the speedy years to the brim.

Always more empty space to receive

but equally a price bound to be paid,

never for myself alone – gifts meant

to be dispensed without selfish intent.

Late in life I am seeing quite clearly

how the years have gleaned a harvest;

how late in life I am to give It all away,

for it was never mine to hoard or to hide.
