Govern
well our civic leaders that they may take pride in working in a spirit of
collaboration domestically and on the international field so that every person
and all nations may attain the special dignity you offer them. Watch over our
festivities as we celebrate our nation's fragile beginnings. You have blessed
us and we are grateful. Help us always understand the major responsibility we
have in shaping the world's well-being. May our plans be in line with yours as
you build up your kingdom on earth. Amen.

Independence Day in the U.S.
Loving
and steadfast God, we praise you because you have put into our hearts the
desire for freedom, peace, security, and well-being. Our freedom allows us to
bring about the peace of your kingdom where we treat everyone as brother and
sister. We thank you for the founders of our nation that risked their lives for
our liberty and equality. Help us be grateful for all those in our nation's
history who have worked hard according to the principles and spirit of our
Constitution.
