We need to listen carefully when people say that the
Gospel does not speak to them, and begin to understand the cultural experience
behind this statement. Does what we say, and what we do, correspond to the real
and urgent needs of the people around us in their relationship to God and to
others? If the answer is negative, then perhaps we are not fully engaged in the
lives of the people we serve.
