Invitation to Join: A Discussion of Fratelli Tutti

 Dear friends,

We will be looking at the introduction and Chapter 1 of Fratelli Tutti, an encyclical by Pope Francis, On Fraternity and Social Friendship, written on October 3, 2020. It is his most recent encyclical and is broken down into eight chapters. The first chapter is an assessment of where the world stands today in its social relations with one another. It reminds us that the Pope is writing on behalf of the world and not just a Western perspective, and there are great difficulties in speaking to and on behalf of a worldwide church as well as to those outside the church.

I will send out the document section by section on Tuesday afternoons so we have a full week to read it and pray over it.

May 11 – Intro and Chapter 1: dark clouds cover the world

May 18 – Chapter 2: strangers on the road

May 25 -  Chapter 3: vision of an open world

June 1 -  Chapter 4: vision of an open world

June 8 -  Chapter 5:  better politics

June 15 -  Chapter 6: dialogue and friendship

June 22 - Chapter 7: renewed encounter

June 29 - Chapter 8: religion and fraternity

July 6: We will begin a review of the early church.
