Spirituality: Gerhard Lohfink,

A human being is more than an isolated individual. One’s incarnation, becoming human, demands encounters with others. We live in a network of relationships and interactions that continually expands beyond our acquaintances in both time and space. That network contains all the spaces and times of human history. Humanity is a unity in a much deeper sense and appears at first glance

The resurrection can by no means be an exclusively individual matter. The individual who encounters God and death can only do so in union with all the dead throughout the world history. This is so because the self of any individual does not exist without the others. She, or he has lived from them, adopted their ideas or rejected them. Freedom is made possible for any human being through others, and each of us makes possible the freedom of others. Each of us can be judged together with all those others.
