What is the resurrection? The resurrection includes the whole human person and not only a part of him or her. Encompasses everything that makes the person: her joys and sorrows, his happiness and sadness – everything she has worked through in her life, and everything he has suffered – what she has accomplished, and what was given him – the great thing she thought of the little things he did in daily Fidelity – every hour she has endured – every tear he has wept – every smile that has passed across her face. In short: the whole history of the person‘s life. Because all that is connected with the body. Body and soul interpenetrate. The human person not only has a body, but is body, an owner only has a soul, but his soul. The human can only be understood as a psychosomatic unity. The human person must be judged, purified, and made holy. These things must happen in the person as a whole.
The resurrection means that the whole person comes to God, the whole history of a life. Our whole history, that wonderful, adventurous, convoluted history with its tears and ecstasies, its sorrows and blessings, it all travels with us into eternal life with God
