Poem: Native American Prayer

                                                                       O Great Spirit

Whose Voice I hear in the Wind,

Whose Breath is Life to the world,

Hear me.

I am one of your many children.

I need your strength and wisdom.

May I walk in beauty,

May my eyes ever behold the red-purple sunset,

May my hands respect the things that you have made

And my ears be sharp to hear your Voice.

Teach me the lessons hidden in every leaf and rock.

Make me strong, but not stronger than my brother and sister,

But strong enough so that I can fight my greatest enemy.

And when my life fades away

Like the fading sunset,

May my Spirit go back to You without shame, but with great Love.
