Prayer: Frederick Buechner

Compassion is sometimes the fatal capacity for feeling what it is like to live inside somebody else's skin. It is the knowledge that there can never really be any peace and joy for me until there is peace and joy finally for you too.

  1. I have just returned from the Mass of the Lord's Supper which always moves me deeply - the humility of our Lord re-enacted by our priests and deacons. All are welcome to come for foot-washing and I really have no words to express my feelings.

I thought of you, John, this evening as you won't be experiencing the Triduum for a few weeks. I expect the Mass of the Lord's Supper will be very special for you this year.

    Blessings.

    1. It is my favorite liturgy of the year. I told our parish this morning that we have a great responsibility in prayer for the whole church today as they celebrate Good Friday. We can celebrate Mass and the Resurrection for those who only have communion services today.
