Prayer: Ephrem the Syrian
O Lord, master of my life, grant that I may not be infected with the spirit of slothfulness and inquisitiveness, with the spirit of ambition and vain talking. Grant instead to me, your servant, the spirit of purity and humility, the spirit of patience and neighborly love. Grant me the grace of being aware of my sins and of not thinking evil of those of my brethren. For you are blessed, now and forever.

Madeline Rose -thank you…purity, humility, patience, neighborly love (I just met a neighbor this morning! Gift!) awareness of sins, and not thinking evil of neighbor…yes I desire these! I am wondering if or how Holy curiosity might be different than “inquisitiveness”? I have prayed for my grandchildren to have curiosity about the mystery of God, and I wonder what your thoughts are on that…. Thank you again for expressing so well my hopes for this day.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of holy curiosity. Inquisitiveness is also good if the search is for greater understanding. Thanks for the comment.
