ReplyDeleteThe Bishop of Rome would say the same thing.
DeleteHate to be cynical, but how about wishing for "Peace in the family"? Matt 10:36 "And a man's enemies shall be they of his own household."
ReplyDeleteWhat we need to want is the wisdom, discernment, and fortitude to do God's will---Matt 12: 48-50 "He replied to him, 'Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?' Pointing to his disciples, he said, 'Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.'
Thanks. Those new mothers and brothers and sisters are in this family too. It won't always be peaceful, but the basic capacity to love is there.
DeleteThis is such a powerful statement. It is certainly consoling to be part of Christ's family but there are responsibilities in family life as well. May we be willing to accept those responsibilities.
ReplyDeleteHe inaugurated a new family - with a new patriarch. O.K. Maybe patriarch doesn't invigorated some people, but it is cool to be in his family.
