My life is but a weaving between the Lord and me.
I do not choose the colors; God knows what they will be.
For God can view the pattern from the upper side,
And I can see it only from the underside.
Sometimes God weavest sorrow, it seemest strange to me;
But I will trust God’s presence and work on faithfully.
‘Tis God who fills the shuttle and God knows what is best,
So I will work in earnest and leave to God the rest.
Not ‘til the loom is silent and the shuttle ceases to fly,
That God will unroll the canvas and I’ll know the reason why …
The dark threads are as needful in the skilled weaver’s hand
As the gold and silver, in the pattern God has planned.
