With deep feeling Ignatius perceived
himself as one intimately united with Christ; and he also desired that the
society [of Jesus] which was soon to be founded [by him] should be totally
dedicated to Him and bear His name.
(Candido de Dalmases, Ignatius of Loyola, Founder of the Jesuits, p.
153)
Ever since we have spent time in Manresa and got to know/learn about the Society and Ignatius himself, along with his first companions, I find all this very moving.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it here.
I've always enjoyed my study of the original texts. I think I am going to try to bring LeCoutreau's Multibiography to Jordan so I can have others learn about our history.
DeleteThe 19th Annotation was my first major introduction to Ignatius and I have been hooked ever since. I especially appreciate that he had the gift of tears because I am also the recipient of that gift and I feel so much better knowing that Ignatius was gifted in the same way. :)
ReplyDeleteHave you read his Autobiography? I think you might like it.
