Sometimes we wonder, “What did I do to deserve this?” or “Why did God do this to me?” What follows is a wonderful explanation. . . .
A teenage girl was telling her Mother how everything was going wrong. She’s failing algebra, her boyfriend broke up with her, and her best friend is moving away. Meanwhile, her Mother is baking a cake and asks her daughter if she would like a snack. The daughter relies, “Absolutely, Mom, I love your cake!”
“Here, have some cooking oil,” her Mother offers.
“Yuck,” says her daughter.
“How about a couple of raw eggs?”
“Gross, Mom!”
“Would you like some flour then? Or maybe some baking soda?”
“Mom, those are all yucky!”
To which the Mother replies, “Yes, all those things seem bad by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake. God works the same way. Many times we wonder why He would let us go through such hard and difficult times. But He knows that when He put all these things in His order, they always work for good. We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful.

As it is said, God's ways are not our ways, God's thoughts not our thoughts. Always much better!
ReplyDeleteYes, we must look at the end result and not the messy ingredients. God's miracle creates amazing results.
DeleteWonderful way to look at hard (and beautiful) times in our lives. They are all part of the amazing 'cake' God created. I pray to 'appreciate and use all these gifts of God insofar as they help me develop as loving person'. Thank you for the message.
ReplyDeleteYes, when we are looking at the messy details at our lives, we ought to lift our heads and reflect upon what we are creating with and for God.
