Spirituality: Dalmases, Ignatius of Loyola p. 153
Jesus with the cross on his shoulders appeared to Ignatius, and by His side the Father, who said to Him: "I desire you to take this man for your servant." Jesus then turned to Ignatius and said to him, "It is my will that you serve Us." The pronoun in the plus, Us, imparts to this vision a seal clearly trinitarian. The Father unites Ignatius closely with Jesus bearing the cross, and expresses His will that Ignatius should dedicate himself to their service. Ignatius is called to a mysticism of union, to be "placed with Christ," and also of service, by being invited to consecrate his life to the divine service.
