Spirituality: Challenge to Religious Life Today: Pedro Arrupe

Service is the key idea of the charism of Ignatius. It is an idea whose moving power achieved in the life and spirituality of Ignatius - even in his mystical phase - a total realization: unconditioned and limitless service, a service that is large-hearted and humble. It could be said that even the Trinitarian "lights," which enriched his mystical life, rather than leading to a passive and contemplative quieting, spurred him to a greater service of this Gd he contemplated with such great love and reverence.
