Prayer: Teilhard de Chardin, S.J.

Lord Christ:

You who are the first and the last, the living and the dead, and risen again;
You who gather into your Exuberant unity every mode of existence;
It is you to whom by being cries out,
with a desire as vast as the universe:

In truth you are my 'Lord and my God.'

  1. As I read this prayer, I am reminded of Jeremiah's words in Sunday's liturgy: "within me there is something like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot." (Jer. 20:9) It is the absolute truth and Teilhard measures each phrase that he writes and words his feelings so powerfully that my entire being experiences the emotion.

    1. Interesting. I think of the Book of Revelation with Alpha and Omega. I like your remembrance of Jeremiah. Everything fits together well.
