Prayer: Augustine of Hippo
People go abroad to wonder
at the heights of mountains, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast
compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by
themselves without marveling.
Ever since I began painting, I realize what a miracle it is to line up eyes, noses, and all facial features perfectly. God does this repeatedly with each new life to rich wonder.
Such insight! We forget "It is he that made us, and we are his" (Psalm 100:3) when we ignore the marvel of ourselves.
