Literature: The Hero with a Thousand Faces

We have only to follow the thread of the hero path. Where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall find a god; where we had thought to slay another, we shall slay ourselves; where we had thought to travel outwards, we shall come to the center of our own existence; where we had thought to be alone, we shall be with all the world.

Joseph Campbell

  1. It is a good quote.

I read this book years ago and came out of it, despondent, as all the heroes were male...
I could not really recognize myself in them.
Since then, other books, written by women, have filled some of the void.

Still, the quote above is a good one :-)Thank you.

  2. Yes, Claire. It was certainly written in a different era. The fight for women's rights still has a long road ahead, especially on the world-wide front. I also appreciate a different perspective. Thanks.
